Ecopia Tech Corporation is an industry-leading artificial intelligence company that specializes in extracting insight from geospatial big data. Our intelligent systems leverage groundbreaking advancements in machine learning to convert high-resolution imagery of our earth into HD Maps. These HD Maps support critical decision-making across a wide variety of industries including government, insurance, telecommunications, etc.

Ecopia Tech is seeking a passionate, self-motivated candidate to fill an exciting position in a fast paced and dynamic entrepreneurial workspace. With direction from the President, a successful candidate will be the first member of Ecopia’s legal department, helping build the division from the ground up. This opportunity will provide the incredible experience of working alongside a dynamic team with a boundless growth potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with all legal matters at Ecopia which may include IP and patent filings, customer contracts, partnership agreements, non disclosure agreements, immigration, etc.

  • Work with our in-house technical team to understand technical developments for the purpose of patent filings

  • Liaise with our external legal counsel who are subject matter experts in IP, compliance and immigration, to ensure that the needs of Ecopia are being met as we scale

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Law degree from a recognized Canadian school

  • Member of the Ontario Bar (active and in good standing)

  • 1-3 years experience at a top-tier law firm

  • Extensive experience with various contracts (employment agreements, NDAs, customer license agreements)

  • Experience with patent filings

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts

  • Experience with startups is a plus
